The 'Nigredo' series  is part of a current body of work created by Cara which explores the process of removing ink from pre painted layers of paint.  The images are revealed by chance as an ongoing conversation between herself and the inks, which she likens to the alchemical process of nigredo to albedo, within the blackening the illumination or understanding can begin to be encountered.  The pictures which unexpectedly emerge from the ink stained canvas are seen as symbols from the unconscious guiding her to a deeper understanding of Self.
